Why sanitize fruits, vegetables, and meat

Fruits, vegetables, and meat can have bacteria and viruses like E.coli and Salmonella on the surface of the food. There are also potentially harmful chemical residues from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides that may not be completely removed with plain tap water. It is important to clean fresh produce and meat before consumption or storage – to ensure that they are clean and healthier for you and your family, and to increase the shelf life of these products.

How do you sanitize fruits & vegetables

Here’s the most practical way to do it:

1. Place your food that needs sanitized in a tub of water, or close the drain and fill up your kitchen sink to 3/4 depth with cold water.
2. Add ice to hold the Ozone in the water longer.
3. Place the stone into the water, lowering it all the way to the bottom near center.
4. Connect it to the ozone output of your personal AQUA-3 ozonator.
5. Treat for approximately 10-15 minutes per gallon of water.
   Example: for a 3-gal tub, use setting #15 to run for 30 minutes, then power device off to avoid timer repeat.
   IMPORTANT: DO NOT turn the unit off and on again immediately to run it for more than 30 minutes consecutively. Without time to cool down, the unit will be permanently damaged in as few as 2-3 cycles. Take notice that damage from overheating caused by this kind of usage is easily identifiable during service and is not covered by your unit's warranty, so do this only at your own risk.
6. If you are in a hurry, take a glass of ice water, ozonate for 15-20 minutes, and rinse the food you desire to sanitize.
7. If storing, dry the food with a clean cloth, then store as usual.

If you're only treating a small amount of water, you don't have to soak the produce for a long time. Once ozone reaches necessary concentration, it will only take a few seconds to oxidize the harmful pesticides, bacteria, and chemicals that are found on most fruits or vegetables. Soaking your fruits and vegetables in ozonated water before rinsing and consuming promotes good health and can prevent serious illness. Research has shown that ozone extends the shelf-life of produce and meats, a great added benefit.

Ozonated water can also be sprayed on food handling tools and surfaces to oxidize harmful substances and kill viruses and bacteria.

How do you sanitize meat

Apply the above process to a half-full kitchen sink. Ozonate for 30 minutes (AQUA-3 setting #15). Leave meat in the water for 15-20 minutes after ozonation. It is now 99.9% free of viruses and bacteria. Clean with dry cloth and store or prepare as usual.

How to ozonate oil and lotion

When ozone is released into chilled olive oil (or safflower oil) for long periods of time, the oil eventually thickens, holding the ozone within. If refrigerated, this gel will hold the ozone for years. When this ozonated oil is applied to the skin, it's been shown to have extremely positive effects on a variety of skin diseases, especially those, which result in inflammation or severe itching. If you have any kind skin inflammation, we recommend and encourage you to apply ozonated oil to your skin. There are no known negative effects, and it very likely will provide excellent results!

To achieve the minimum concentrations required for an effective ozonated oil, you will need to accumulate at least 24 hours of ozonation. Since our personal ozone generator only runs for 30 minutes at time (an important safety precaution!) you will need to allow the machine to run on setting #10 for at least 3 days. The good news is that once you've ozonated the oil, it will last in your refrigerator for a long, long time! Note: please ozonate in a dark cool place that is ventilated or will not be occupied for the period of ozonation.

Similar effect can be achieved with some skin lotions. Because the result of ozone breakdown is oxygen, this creates a very healing invigorating effect, when used for skin therapy.

How to sterilize kitchen/bathroom items

A simple way to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and microorganisms (and to promote gum health) is to soak your kitchenware and toiletries, such as your toothbrush, in ozonated water for at least 3 minutes after each use. Use setting #2 on your AQUA-3. That's all it takes to get rid of the dangerous bacteria which remains on the kitchen tools after handling meat, or on a toothbrush after brushing. Did you know that some bacteria is water-repellent? That means that it will not go away with just hot water. As a matter of fact, ozonated water can be used to disinfect utensils, contact lens cases, dentures, or anything that needs to be 100% bacteria and microorganism free.

How to make ozonated drinking water

Drinking Ozonated water is a great way to detoxify your system! Every day we are bombarded with toxins, chemicals, and pollutants. Ozonating drinking water is said to be one of the best ways you can clear your system. Cleaning your food by soaking it in ozonated water is a powerful way of reducing the amount of pesticides, bacteria, etc which enters your system. But to add extra fighting power, you may also choose to drink ozonated water.

How To make Ozonated water using the AQUA-3 personal ozonator:

1. Fill an 8-12oz glass with cold water.
2. Add ice. Ice helps water absorb and retain more ozone and hold on to it for a longer period of time.
3. Attach the diffuser air stone to the tubing and to the output of the unit, then place into glass at the bottom.
4. Set the time to 5-10 minutes (setting #2 or #3). (For a pitcher of water, ozonate for 30min - setting #15).
   
   Note: ozonation time may be different according to water hardness and contamination level. Ozonation does not replace filtration. For best results, ozonate only filtered or purified water.
5. Turn unit off.

Opinions vary how to consume the water. While some advise that you drink immediately, it has also been suggested that large ozone concentrations can make their way to the digestive bacteria in your stomach and intestines, and destroy it. We cannot, by law or with just plain common sense, provide you with medical advice or a set recommendation on which method is best. We only advise that you do your due diligence, and find a good balance between the two variants that makes you comfortable.

ATTENTION: A small number of people are allergic to silicone. If you suspect that you may be one of them, please use teflon tubing instead of the supplied tube. How to treat athlete's foot

Ozonate a container of luke warm water that is large enough to submerge your feet. Use approximately a gallon of water. Use setting #15 to run AQUA-3 for 30 minutes. Place your feet in the water while ozonating and keep them there for about 20 to 30 minutes after the unit shuts off. Since setting #15 is repetitive, turn the unit off when you are done to prevent unintentional restart.

How to deodorize dirty laundry

Ozone kills airborne bacteria instantly. You can use it to get rid of smells in a pile of laundry that is not quite ready to be washed, or to eliminate those ever-so-familiar smells from soiled toddler clothing and reusable diapers.

1. Find an air tight hamper or an old cardboard box, large enough to fit the laundry.
2. Place the clothes inside.
3. Because ozone is heavier than air, place AQUA-3 on top of the clothes before you shut the lid
   Note: you cal also close the lid or the box top and place the ozone generator on top of it. Now run the ozone inside using the supplied tubing and a small hole in the lid.
4. Run the unit for 10 minutes (setting #3). Vary time accordingly with the amount of clothing and the strength of smell.

How to remove light pet smells

Because ozone is a great and easy way to kill airborne bacteria, you no longer have to be ashamed of your pet smells if guests come over. Start AQUA-3, leave the room and take your pets with you while ozone is raising to levels slightly above acceptable healthy concentration. Set a fan to circulate air. Wait 15-20 minutes before re-entering. If possible, open windows when done to ventilate excess ozone. Ozone will naturally break down into pure oxygen within 15-30 minutes. The room will not just be smell free, but will feel fresher and more vibrant. While setting you chose depends on the room size and air circulation, we recommend 5 minutes per every 100 sq.ft. To treat a 600sq.ft. area, for example, use setting #15. Leave the room when the unit starts and re-enter after 1-1.5 hours. Shut the unit off upon re-entering to avoid restart.

You can also set the unit to produce tiny amounts of ozone constantly. This prevents dust and odors from accumulating, and will remove the need for the above procedure. We recommend about 2 minutes per hour (setting #6) for every 500 sq.ft. If you have a small room, such as a home office, increase time to decrease concentration. Use setting #11, 2 minutes every 4 hours, for a room that is 100-150 sq.ft.

How to remove strong pet odors

We love our pets and love our homes to be clean and fresh. 30 minutes of ozone treatment in cat litter area can do wonders pet odors. It will keep the pet beds nice and fresh too! In case of really strong smells, such as that after bad tenants move out and leave a cat smell behind, you may need to do an ozone shock treatment to the area. It is essentially the above-described procedure, but we do not recommend using the personal generator for this. The output is simply not string enough, and you may not be able to achieve the necessary concentration to penetrate walls, hardwood flooring, and carpeting. Note: For contained small areas, such as litter box accidents, use enzyme cleaners such as Nature's Miracle, then seal the area on the carpet with plastic and pump ozone directly to the affected area to remove the source of the odor.

How to kill fleas and pests with ozone

Ozone will kill microbes, bacteria, fungus, mould, mildew and any organic and inorganic substances which may be providing flies, fleas, and mites with necessary nutrients. It also affects smaller pest bodies at a far more rapid rate than, say, human skin. Routine preventative ozonation will help control the growth of the pests. However it does not completely eliminate the need for regular cleaning. A vacuum is just as effective at killing fleas, for example, as any poison. Ozone air therapy in form of tiny amounts of ozone added to air infrequently (settings #6 or #11), combined with regular cleaning will keep your house and office flea, fly, pest, and mite free.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TREAT YOUR PET WITH OZONE! Inhaling ozone can be critically damaging to your pet's health. If your pet has fleas, please use FrontLine or a medical treatment prescribed by your veterinarian.

How to kill plant fungus

Ozonate a glass of water for 2-5 minutes, then water your plants. This will result in healthier plants and it will also reduce odors that fungus-infected plants can produce.

How to remove cigarette smoke odors

If you are a smoker, the smell in your house can be pretty strong to those not used to it, who come into your home. Set the AQUA-3 unit to produce tiny amounts of ozone constantly. This will prevent the smell from accumulating. It will also clear up over time the tar build-up (thin yellow film on your walls and windows). We recommend about 2 minutes per hour (setting #6) for every 500 sq.ft. If you have a small room, such as a home office, increase time to decrease concentration. Use setting #11, 2 minutes every 4 hours, for a room that is 100-150 sq.ft. Because ozone breaks down over time and also when it combines with particles suspended in the air, if you are a heavy smoker you may want to increase the ozone levels. If you start smelling a bleachy odor (the smell of ozone), you are probably generating too much, or not ventilating enough - switch to a lower setting.

If you prefer to not let the unit run continuously, but instead to shock treat the area occasionally, leave the room, run the unit for 20-30 minutes per 500 sq.ft. area, wait 15-20 minutes before re-entering, then open windows to ventilate excess ozone.

How to remove fire smoke or mold damage & chemical smells

Light chemical smells, such as those after paining a room, can be removed by following the ozone shock procedure in the pet odor how-to. However, for serious mold, smoke, and water damage, a personal ozone generator is simply impractical, if not futile. How to purify air in the car

We all spill things that cause mildew, mold, and cause a musty smell. Want to bring that clean air at home into your car? Easy! Just bring the AQUA-3 unit into the car. Prepare by vacuuming mats and cleaning any potential sources of odors, such as that coffee cup or the paper bag from a fast food place. Roll-up the windows and close the doors. Make sure no people or pets stay inside during ozonation. Run the unit for 15-20 minutes (settings #4 or #5). Wait 30 minutes after the unit finishes, then open all doors to let out the excess ozone. Note: Since settings #4 and #5 are non-repetitive and the unit will shut off after it finishes, for best results, use setting #5 and leave the car closed overnight.

How to ozonate water in fish aquariums

Ozone kills all bacteria and algae in a fish tank, and in reasonable concentrations has no harmful effects on the fish. For a 10 gallon tank, ozonate an 8 oz. glass of water for 5-15 minutes, and pour it into the tank using the net to diffuse it throughout the tank. For larger tanks, use the repeat feature to run ozone through the air stone diffuser for 2-5 minutes at regular intervals. 30-50gal tanks show significant improvement in water clarity when ozonated for 5 minutes every 4 hours (setting #11). Vary time and repeat frequency based on aquarium size. Remember that ozonation does not replace filtration. Use your regular filter as usual. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't need as much cleaning or the replacements get further apart.
